The Head of Broadcasting for radio station Jazz FM has been forced to apologise after what appeared to be audio from a gay porn film appeared was played during a live broadcast.
The
embarrassing incident occurred during the station's Funky Sensation programme with Mike Vitti, last Saturday.
The audio, which featured no actual words but was very sexually suggestive, was
blamed by management on "unauthorised activity and inappropriate
behaviour in the studio".
The long-running station, which has an average weekly audience of 500,000, said in a statement on Monday: "There was some unauthorised
activity and inappropriate behaviour in the studio on Saturday evening –
activity we take extremely seriously.
"An investigation regarding
this matter began immediately and should it be necessary, disciplinary
action will be taken against the individual concerned."
The station is also expected to air a further apology to listeners at the beginning of next Saturday's show.
Naturally, listeners took to micro-blogging site Twitter to discuss what happened.
One Jazz FM listener, Iwan Williams, tweeted during Saturday night’s broadcast: ‘The **** just happened on jazz fm?! Sounded like sex noises... This is turning into an awkward dinner.’
