A former United States marine has claimed he once slept with some of America's most notable icons during his spell turn as a rent boy.
Eighty-eight year-old Scotty Bowers has made the headline-grabbing claims in a tell-all book entitled: ‘Full Service: My Adventures in Hollywood and the Secret Sex Lives of the Stars’.
As well as tendering to the needs of gay and bisexual acrors such as Cary Grant and Rock Hudson, Bowers also says he enjoyed threesomes with the abdicated King of England Edward VIII and his wife Wallis Simpson.
Spencer Tracy and Edith Piaf are also name-checked – as are screen legends Rita Hayworth and Katherine Hepburn, who are said to have used Bowers to meet "over 150 different women", according to the New York Times.
The alleged affairs are said to have taken place during the 1940s.
"I’ve kept silent all these years because I didn’t want to hurt any of these people," Bowers told the New York Times.
"And I never saw the fascination. So they liked sex how they liked it. Who cares?"
"I finally said yes [to publicly disclosing details] because I’m not getting any younger and all of my famous tricks are dead by now. The truth can’t hurt them anymore." he added.
Bowers, who has been married to his wife for almost thirty years, said it all started in 1946, when he was 23.
He claims that, post-military service, he got a job in a petrol station near the Hollywood film studios. One day, Walter Pidgeon is said to have propositioned him with a $20 bill – something which started a business arrangement.
"Sometimes police would come around, sure. But I think I never got caught partly because I kept everything in my head. There was no little black," he told the Times.
His story is set to be published by Grove Press on February 14 and is written with Lionel Friedberg.
