Golden Globe-winning actress Claire Danes was at the centre of a very camp street party, this week - as she was named Harvard University's Woman of the Year.
The actress, famous for her role in teen show My So-Called Life, was paraded through the
streets of Cambridge,
Massachusetts,
in a convertible car while flanked by two drag
queens as part of the Hasty Pudding Theatricals' award ceremony
.
The wacky award – which turns typical Harvard tradition on its head – celebrates performers who have made lasting impressions on the industry, but does so in the most unconventional way.
Danes, 31, earned the award by completing a series
of eccentric tasks – including dancing with a person dressed as a virus and reciting a monologue about genitals.
The annual honour has been bestowed since 1951. Previous recipients include Elizabeth Taylor and Angela Lansbury.
Winners are presented with a 'golden' Pudding Pot.

Pudding theatricals, James Fitzpatrick, and Cast Vice President, Ryan
Halprin, both dressed in drag.
Danes, who recently won her third Golden Globe award, can be seen on UK screens from next month in acclaimed espionage thriller Homeland, which premiers on Channel 4.
Homeland won the Best Drama award at the Golden Globes.
