BBC America have accidentally been helping to funding a number of anti-gay faith groups in the US.
The broadcasters were linked to online bookstore Christian Values Network – co-owned by Lindsay Lohan’s father – which donated cash to various strict religious groups, including several which are alleged to be homophobic.
BBC America has now terminated its involvement with the website.
Focus on the Family and the Family Research Council are just two of the organisations who have allegedly benefited from the site.
“BBC America Shop was not aware of CVN.org’s current donation policies,” Amy Mulcair, vice president publicity at BBC Worldwide Americas, told UK Gay News.
“We have ended our relationship with this affiliate effective immediately,” she added.
The BBC decision, which was made in New York, was made very swiftly, it is understood.
Microsoft was the first company to pull-out of the scheme. The Seattle-based gay friendly giant severed its relationship with Christian Values Network at the end of last week.
