London will host its first gay dog show as part of this year’s pride festivities, Battersea Cats and Dogs Home has announced, with the best-judged pets taking centre stage on the charity’s parade float.
London’s Pride Pooch 2011 will bring together the best-looking and most talented canines at the show to be held at Vauxhall nightclub Fire on 30 June.
Those deemed the ‘best in class’ by Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and Help! My Dog’s As Fat As Me presenter Julian Bennett will have the chance to join the Battersea Cats and Dogs Home float at Pride London’s parade two days later.
Dogs can be entered into a number of categories, including dandiest dog (the best looking male dog), prettiest bitch (best-looking female dog), super staffie (best-looking Staffordshire Bull Terrier or Staffie/Cross), best rescue dog and best lookey-likey (dog that looks most like its owner or a celebrity).
More information is available on the Battersea Cats and Dogs Home website and entries must be registered by 26 June.
This year’s Pride London takes place over 10 days from 24 June to 3 July, with the main parade along Regent Street on 2 July.
