A petition gathering over 1000 signatures has been delivered today to the Soho pub that found itself at the centre of a media storm, last month.
As reported on PinkPaper.com last month, Jonathan Williams, 26, and James Bull, 23, were reportedly asked to leave the John Snow pub for kissing in public.
The row sparked a Twitter furore, which escalated into a series of kiss-in protests at the central London venue, with hundreds of gay people showing public displays of affection.
Since then, neither the management or the brewery – Samuel Smith Old Brewery – have released any comment, statement or apology.
Now, activists who organised two of the successful kiss-ins have written a letter to the venue's managers asking them to clarify their position.
Having gathered 1087 signatures of support after it was placed on a petition website, the letter was symbolically delivered at the pub on International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, yesterday.
Paul Shetler, who organised the first Kiss-in on 15 April, said:“We all want to put this behind us but it was important for us to demand the respect we are owed as human beings.
Nothing more, nothing less. The John Snow management must take responsibility for their action and break the silence they have kept so far.”
A member of staff who reportedly did not identify himself received the petition and agreed to a meeting this morning.
