Also appearing on stage in front of an audience of up to 40,000 people will be Mister Wales 2010, Andrew Western, who will co-host part of the event alongside Welsh TV host Amanda Protheroe-Thomas.

Western, 22, the only gay guy to have won the Mister Wales title, has never done any sort of presenting before.

He said, “I am really excited and nervous although I am pleased to be doing it with Amanda who is a close personal friend of mine as I am sure she will help to settle my nerves on the day”.

In addition to Rickitt, many other entertainers will take to the mardi gras stage including last year’s Welsh X Factor finalist Lloyd Daniels and Same Difference.

BBC 1’s Torchwood star Ianto Jones, namely Gareth David-Lloyd will be performing with his band Blue Gillespie as will Starman, from Sky 1’s Pineapple Dance Studio. The rest of the line-up includes the South Wales Gay Men’s Chorus and around 20 other acts.

Hosting Cardiff Wales LGBT Mardi Gras this weekend will be Western’s first official first public appearance as Mister Wales 2010.

Since June he has enjoyed a whirlwind experience and will opening a new fitness centre in Wrexham later this month, running a 10km run for The Joshua Foundation and doing a skydive in October among other projects.
