The Catholic church has informed gay priests not to lead a "double life" after a magazine owned by Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi claimed to have footage of celibate priests having gay sex.

According to PA, the Roman Catholic Rome diocese said no one was forcing homosexual prelates to remain as priests.

It said "we don't want to hurt them" but their conduct "muddies the reputation of all the others."

A journalist from Panorama is claiming to have covertly filmed three priests in a damning exposé.

I know it sounds picky, but a story is written in bad English the reader automatically has his or her confidence in it reduced. So - the church hasn't "informed" gay priests... it has ordered, advised, instructed, even "told" them. And while you're checking on the meaning of "inform", look up "prelates". These are high-ranking priest - bishops, archbishops - and not just priests which is what the PA reported.
