Over 33, 000 runners took to the streets of Manchester on 17 May as part of the BUPA 10K Great Manchester run.

An abundance of queer athletes participated in the run, raising money for queer charities such as The Albert Kennedy Trust and The Lesbian and Gay Foundation.

It was an emotional day as many were running for loved ones they had lost, but the fantastic crowd lining the streets of the city lifted the runners spirits as they ran through, sun, wind and pelting rain on a typical Manchester day.

Simon Pearson a member of Team LGF, reflected: “It was great to see Team LGF back on the street’s of Manchester taking part in the run again. I think people seeing all 30 of us running in our Lesbian and Gay Foundation T Shirts is a really positive step in terms of visibility and people’s perception of the LGB community.”

He went on to say: “It was really encouraging to see people coming back who ran for us last year and to see so many new faces running their first fun run for the LGF. We thank everyone who took part, especially those who got soaked, and Mantrav who kindly sponsored us.”

It is hoped the Charity raised over £3000 for their lesbian, gay and bisexual services in the North West.
