Players from Grace’s Cricket Club are beginning their preparations for the 2009 season with a new captain and practice nets starting from 4 March.

Now in its twelfth year, the London based club remains the only group of its kind in the world, and continues to go from strength to strength.

The club’s new Australian captain, Gordon Shorrocks, says he is very excited about the season ahead.

The former Grade cricketer from Perth told Pink Paper: “There’s a great buzz in the club and we’re looking forward to playing some good cricket as well as having a laugh off the field.”

Grace’s has consolidated its position in Division One of the Middlesex Sunday Cricket League finishing in fourth place in 2008 having gained promotion from Division Two the
previous year.

As well as competitive league cricket, the club also plays a number of friendly fixtures, tours and regularly holds social events for players and non-players.

Grace’s is always looking to boost its numbers with new players, umpires, scorers and social members. For further information, including details on how to join, visit the club’s website gracescricket.org.uk
