Openly-gay American Idol singer Adam Lambert claims his UK audience is "more tolerant" about homosexuality than the US, according to the latest issue of GT.

Speaking to the leading gay monthly, the performer said: “I just think that you guys in the UK are way ahead in terms of tolerance. It’s really interesting. In the UK and in Europe it’s less of an issue [being gay] because people are more comfortable with their sexualities.

"And not just the gay thing, but even playful things, like the concept of androgyny. That is something that generally many Americans are uncomfortable with.”

He later went on to discuss Susan Boyle, who kept him off the top spot in the charts. He said: “I’m happy for her success, but that album is terrible. Wild Horses is the one that just made me laugh the hardest. I just died when I heard it, I was crying with laughter. It was the most horrendous, sacrilegious treatment of that song!”

March’s issue of GT Magazine is on sale 24 February and also features exclusives with The X Factors’ Olly Murs, Kim Cattrall and Desperate Housewives’ Shawn Pyfrom, plus plastic surgery disasters and self sucking: How far would you go to find satisfaction?

What I get a kick out of is the cattiness of a gay magazine purposely & maliciously misquoting a man who is trying to break a barrier by being the first openly gay American pop singer. It appears the gay community would rather backstab than aid or promote. It is so obviously misquoted. Yes, he may have and probably said he didn't care for the CD. It's a CD made for a much older generation not someone his age. But the paraphrasing was so distorted as to be ridiculous. In all my years I have never heard an American of any age use the phrase "crying with laughter". A 27 year old American would say "Oh my God, I was laughing so hard I cried. "Crying with laughter" is a British phrase. Actually, reading it here was the first time I ever heard the phrase. I actually had to google the phrase and sure enough - British. Nor would an American say "just made me laugh the hardest". Again British speak. A 27 year old American would say "Man, Wild Horses cracked me up or I never laughed s

I fail to see why Peter Lloyd would "misquote" Adam Lambert, he's not even well known in Great Britain.

* * * * * * ADAM HAS DENIED THAT HE SAID THIS VIA TWITTER! * * * * * * Here are his exact words: "Oh joy! MisQuoted again... Becoming quite funny actually." You can check it out at twitter dot com slash adamlambert. He didn't say it was this specifically, but this is the only recent quote of any controversy to come out. If Adam says he didn't say it, I believe him.

What amazes me is..............Does anybody in their right mind think that ADAM LAMBERT would say such a thing, even if he really believed this ???? Especially with the popularity of Susan Boyle and his recovering from the AMA backlash. He would have to be out of his mind !! Just on that alone, I am damn sure he never said such a thing. Especially after his controversial spin on "RING OF FIRE" why would he even think of speaking of Susan Boyle's handling of "Wild Horses"? This has to be a FABRICATED BUNCH OF LIES

Busted!! As a member of the "gay community" I've been following Adam with great interest for over a year now. I've watched countless interviews and Adam does not speak like that. For that matter, I've never heard an American speak like that. "horrendous, sacrilegious treatment of that song". Sorry, buddy but that's the Queen's english. American's don't speak like that. Busted. Peddle your crap elsewhere.

First of all, to the poster a few posts down - I am not a "woman from AdamOfficial" or a "bored middle aged woman who trolls the internet". I am, however, a fan of Adam Lambert, because he is a mega-talented artist and one of the nicest people in the world. I agree wholeheartedly with the many posters here who are skeptical that Mr. Lambert actually said the words attributed to him in the article. He simply does not bash other artists like that, nor other people in general. Even the phraseology sounds entirely unlike him. If this is not a fabrication of the writer, I'm sure PinkPaper will have no trouble posting the audio or video of Mr. Lambert saying what is herein attributed to him. With no such post, don't believe a word of it !

The writer of this article has never been Adam Lambert's biggest supporter and is actually more than a little put out that he is being promoted in the UK. It's no surprise therefore that he is doing his bit to put a spanner in the works. For the record, I have heard the writer make pretty much the same criticism of Susan Boyle's album and of her version of Wild Horses as is being attributed in this article to someone else. Hmmmmm........ funny that!

Oh for heaven's sake, people don't have it in for Adam. It's just surprising he'd say something like that, because it's so unprofessional. For my personal taste both these artists a little mainstream (Kris Allen too). But I can appreciate they have good voices. Yes I HAVE heard Adam. I don't think either of their albums reflect their strengths. That said I've yet to hear anyone say Boyle didn't do a credible job with Wild Horses. So if this isn't just the British media playing with the truth (in the US only vicious housewives read tabloids, but in the UK a lot of the press seems to tip far into that direction) than either Adam will REALLY do anything create a stir, or this is just really poor sportsmanship.

" He later went on to discuss Susan Boyle, who kept him off the top spot in the charts ". Really? Adam Lambert's album entered the charts at #3 and Susan Boyle's at #1. Andrea Bocelli was at #2 (are you going to say, Mr Lloyd, that he also criticised Andrea Bocelli?). If your piece contains this glaring inaccuracy and lack of attention to detail, why should any of it be taken seriously or given any credibility? As for the usual suspects coming out of their cornfields to have a go at Adam Lambert, the same phrasing and terminology, the same spelling and grammatical errors, all pointing to it being the same old group that have so little to do with their time that they have to spend it looking for opportunities to have a go at Adam Lambert. You have to laugh at their derision of Adam's sales compared to Susan Boyle's when Adam has the second biggest selling debut album of the year and has outsold Kris Allen's by 3/1. They can't even preach about his big selling single anymore w

Mr Peter Lloyd, if you are wondering where all of these people bashing Adam Lambert are coming from, they are coming from the desperate and bitter membership of krisallenation and krisallenofficial.com. They are a group of children and immature adults who troll the internet looking for any articles on Adam Lambert (because let's face it, articles on Kris Allen are like hen's teeth) and spam anything and everything with posts against Adam Lambert. They are even sad enough to join Adam Lambert's sites, Facebook group and Twitter account to pick up articles that they can then go and troll on. The most repugnant thing about their behaviour is that they are the worst culprits when it comes to anti-Susan Boyle comments. Some of the things that they have said about the poor woman are disgusting but anyone who has spent more than two minutes on any of their sites wouldn't be at all surprised.

Not too bad for such a "terrible" album. Maybe his next one will be that "terrible" and someone will actually buy it. Maybe shoving someone's face into his crotch on TV wasn't the way to go.

Can't this famewhore Lambert ever keep his mouth shut? He is very willing to dish it out about other artists but when something is said about him, it turns to homophobia or some other lame excuse. Enough already. This guy will do anything for attention and he doesn't care how he does it. He's now blaming the U.S. because they are less tolerable. Perhaps when the overrated Mr. Lambert sells 8 million plus of his mediocre CD as Ms. Boyle sold on hers, he'll then have a place to talk. He's just barely sold 500,000 copies compared to Ms. Boyles 8 million. Perhaps he's a bit jealous he couldn't find instant public success as Ms Boyle did? Don't know much of Mr. Lambert, but what I do know it seems this chap does nothing but make a fool out of himself and stick his foot in his mouth. He's wise to keep his mouth shut in the future. This won't bode well with the fans of Susan Boyle.

It is super stupid. And for him to tell UK are most open for the sexuality and another thinks he tell that to Canada too..and it is the truth because america are to much hypocrit to tell the love that..so they prefer to pass more close to God loll come on USA put your real need in front and dont be afraid about the sexuality because it is important to know's that...its not a big of deal.

There is no way on earth that Adam Lambert made that statement re Susan Boyle's CD. As a huge fan, I have listened to hundreds of Adam interviews and he has never been anything but respectful of other artists. It's absurd that you would print such a blatant lie, especially since it's wording is so British, and not how Adam would speak at all. INTERVIEW FAIL

I wondered how long it would be before some section of the UK media would try to badmouth Adam Lambert. It had all been too positive so far. What a surprise! It comes from a gay publication. I have never known a gay celebrity, in whatever field, get so much derision from the gay community and gay publications. Anyone would think he was desperately trying to stay in the closet. Their attitude would be understandable then. The most ludicrous thing is that the phrasing of the supposed quote from Adam Lambert is so British. If you're going to put words in someone's mouth, at least make it words that the person is likely to actually use.
