
Players from Leftfooters Football Club will face members of the London Royals Hockey Team in a charity hockey meets football competition this weekend.
The match named ‘Fockball’ is being held in aid of Cancer Research on 6 February and will see the two London based teams compete against each other playing one half of hockey followed by one half of football.
Manager of Leftfooters FC, Oli Daly says he looking forward to the challenge: “As most people know, Leftfooters have been playing one sport drunkenly for the last 10 years so it would be interesting to see how we do in another sport.”
Karen Ruddock, Chairman of The London Royals added: “This is a fun way to raise money for a very worthy cause. I think the Royals will be showing the Leftfooters a thing or two for both hockey and football.”
The London Royals Hockey Club welcomes all new players, from the more experienced to the complete beginner with no age restrictions. They train on the first three Sunday’s of each month at John Orwell Sports Centre. For more information see www.londonroyals.co.uk
Leftfooters FC is a fun based football team made up mainly of gay and lesbian players. They play every Sunday afternoon in Regents Park at 2pm, and have a laid back approach of ‘jumpers-for-goalposts’ for all abilities. For more information see www.leftfooters.org.uk
Both teams are currently training to compete in this year’s Gay Games taking place in Cologne, Germany from 31 July – 7 August.
