The soon-to-be ex wife of rugby ace Gareth Thomas has claimed that she has "no regrets" over her marriage to the gay sportsman.
Speaking to the BBC yesterday, Jemma Thomas admitted that her husband's confession was not a complete surprise. After he announced “I think I’m gay,” she replied, “I think you are.”
She added: "It was very strange, my reply, because I'd never mistrusted him with a
woman yet I never knew anything had been going on with a man either,"
Jemma Thomas said. "I had my suspicions and there were lots of rumors
when he was much younger but there was never anything substantial for
me to go on so I kind of just blocked it out and put it to the back of
my mind.
"I knew that Gareth loved me so dearly and he never
gave me any just cause or reason to think he was having an affair with
another woman. He would always come home, he was a very caring, very
passionate person and I didn't for one minute think it would have been
another woman because I trusted him."
And despite saying that she wishes that Thomas had been honest with her earlier, she remains positive - and dignified - about their union.
"We did have a great time. Gareth's a great person and he finally managed to come out and say who he is."
