An Italian football player has been scolded by his football club after modeling in a monthly gay men's magazine.

According to reports on website Momento24, former Boca Juniors midfielder Jesus Dátolo could be sanctioned by Napoli - the leadership of the club - after appearing in Romeo Mag , which is the Italian equivalent of GT.

During the interview, Dátolo - who posed in his underwear and the team strip - said he could potentially be a role model for aspiring sportsmen and praised the current national team coach, Argentina Diego Armando Maradona, saying: “He is a great coach and a great person.”

He is expected to be fined for what football officials are calling a violation of the club's image.

What is wrong with these football clubs. Why shouldn't he pose in a gay mag if he is comfortable with it. No doubt the club would not fine him if he had posed in a girlie mag. They are real hypocrites. It's time the football community accepted that many of their players are gay and get on with it.
