Gays just wanted to have fun with Cyndi Lauper when she popped into G-A-Y to sing tracks from her new dance-orientated album Bring Ya To The Brink, this month.

It’s a quarter of a century since the multicoloured haired one first found fame in the UK with songs like Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, I Drove All Night and True Colors. But always willing to experiment she has teamed up with Dragonette and Basement Jaxx for her latest release. And when it came to showcasing it she chose to perform at one of London’s premier queer venues.

She said: “It’s an honour to always have the genuine affection of the gay community. They have never turned their back on me. I will never turn my back on them.”

So after performing a large chunk of her new material, she rewarded us for that loyalty with some of her classics.

Lauper spoke exclusively to the Pink Paper about her performance – look out for the interview coming soon.
