Nominations for the Pride Games Community Sports Awards are now open, offering queer athletes from across the North West the chance to be recognised, celebrated and rewarded.
The Awards, established last year by Pride Sports, the LGBT Sports Development Company, have this year been extended from beyond Greater Manchester, to cover the whole of the North West region.
Lou Englefield, Director of Pride Sports told Pink Paper: “Whilst we accept that most of the LGBT sports groups in the North West are based in Manchester, we don’t want to exclude groups and individuals from, say Liverpool or Lancaster.”
Categories available in the Community Awards this year include Sports Achiever of the Year (male & female), Coach of the Year, Club of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, and Community Investor of the Year.
Finalists in each category will receive a prize of £150 towards their sports club and a trophy will be presented to them at the Pride Games Dinner on February 18 at the Ramada Jarvis Piccadilly Hotel in Manchester.
Tickets for the dinner are now available from the Pride Games website pridegames.org where nominations can also be submitted.
