Members of Brighton’s gay community joined the thousands in Trafalgar Square and across the country on Friday night to show their concern and opposition to the rise in hate crime.

Around 100 people gathered next to the Victoria Fountain in the city centre to hear speakers from the community and local political figures denounce the attacks on Ian Baynham, killed in London last month, trainee policeman James Parks and the lesbian couple attacked in Brighton in early October.

Candles were lit and a two-minute silence held to remember the recent victims and others who have been targets of hate crime.
