SINGLE: Katy Perry – Teenage Dream

When we first heard that the future Mrs Brand (as everyone and their lapdog now calls her) was going to follow up her summer hit California Gurls with a track called Teenage Dream, we had our reservations. How much musical loveliness can one really gain from tales of soggy bedding and awkward mornings? Then we realised she’s not singing about that kind of dream – oh no, she’s strutting about like a lovesick schoolgirl who still believes in her own Prince Charming.

We've a few qualms about the latest unsigned pop artist on the block. Laura Steel's image is a bit severe and outdated, and there's a SLIGHT air of smuttiness about her that we'd hate to see amplified if she finds mainstream success.
