Pink Paper: The UK hasn't seen a decent boy band for a very long time – other than JLS of course. How are Vice going to change that?
Scott: The main reason we're different is that we started from the ground up. We write our own songs, and we're not puppets.
Kevin: JLS are a really great band, but we're quite different. There aren't many boy bands around now, other than JLS. You've got Take That and Westlife, but they're more man bands now, aren't they?
PP: We hear Katie Price is a fan? How did that come about?
Staz: We did the London Clothes Show, and she sat next to us. We took a liking to each other, and she heard us perform and loved it.
Kevin: I was really impressed. She's really business-minded, but fun as well. She was giving us loads of tips.
PP: Are you fans of hers?
Kevin: Definitely! She's been given a really hard time, but she's a very genuine person.
PP: You boys are obviously very easy on the eye, but our readers are deeply intelligent and not at all shallow. So what interesting facts should they know about each of you?
Luke: We're all different, but we've got that continuity. We blend really well.
Kevin: We write our own music, which I think is quite rare. Also, we've done it the hard way, working with different writers and producers to find our sound.
Scott: It's been a mad journey. We've been doing a lot of stuff behind the scenes and we've really toughened up.
Staz: We all play instruments too. Scott plays guitar, I play guitar and Luke plays the spoons.
PP: Really?
Staz: No, I'm only joking!
Scott: I think we've all got different personalities which I think is interesting. Especially when we're living together!
Kevin: And when we're on stage!
PP: You're following in the footsteps of the Spice Girls by headlining the Clothes Show Live in Birmingham next month. If you were to each have a Spice Girls-style nickname, what would they be?
Staz: Posh Vice, or maybe Baby Vice as I'm the youngest!
Luke: Joker Spice
Kevin: Clean Spice. I've got OCD and like things nice and clean.
Scott: Deep Vice, 'cause I think really deep thoughts, like a poet.
PP: So tell us about your debut single, Bounce.
Kevin: It's out 7 December in conjunction with the Clothes Show, and you can text 81088 to get it!
Scott: It was written about six months ago and it came quite easy. Kevin started it. We wanted something really dirty and dark that people can jam along to.
PP: Is there an album in the pipeline? What can we expect from that?
Scott: Potentially, but the label really believe in our singles. We want to release single after single, as we feel that none of our tracks should just be album fillers.
Staz: Our next single should be out in January/February time and is a bit different. Hopefully we'll have a bigger fan base by then too.
Kevin: We want to have a wide variety of songs and styles.
PP: We hear you've been recording in Copenhagen recently. How was that?
Luke: Great. We only went over for a week but it was extremely productive. We were so inspired. We worked with some amazing producers who have done a lot of the X-Factor music in Denmark, and they really got our sound.
Staz: It was nice to get out of the country.
PP: As a boy band you're bound to attract a lot of attention from gay guys. How do you feel about that?
Scott: Fans are fans, as long as people enjoy the music. It's all about having fun!
PP: Is there the obligatory token gay in the group?
Scott: You'll have to wait and find out!
PP: How did you all get involved in the group? Was it something you'd always wanted to do?
Scott: I wanted to start a band and I'd worked a lot on the tribute scene with Luke. We knew Kevin through auditions we'd all attended, and then we met Staz who was working as a choreographer and a dancer. We became friends and then started writing together last Christmas.
Staz: We all come from creative backgrounds and it just made sense. We were lucky that everyone got along really.
Scott: Yeah, we're all performers, even if some of our backgrounds are more theatrical.
PP: What were you doing before the band?
Kevin: I did that Virgin Holidays advert with Charlotte Church. I was dressed as some weird animal.
Luke: I appeared in a Russell Brand show playing a yob. It was amazing, but nobody knew I was acting!
Staz: I once auditioned for this weird thing where I had to stay in a box, but I jumped out after 30 minutes so I didn't get it.
Scott: I've done a lot of bar and kitchen work, washing up.
PP: A lot of boy bands come and go without trace, how are you going to insure you stick around?
Kevin: We're been doing things very slowly, waiting for the right song to come along, finding out image, our sound, and making sure we're good on stage.
Staz: We have the ability to be versatile and to mould ourselves into whatever people want.
PP: What if it all goes wrong?
Luke: Nothing will go wrong. We're very confident.
PP: If you could recruit a fifth Vice member, who would your ideal candidate be?
Kevin: We're a really strong unit, and we live together - so we know each other extremely well. I don't think we could add another member.
Luke: Justin would be good though!
Kevin: Lady Gaga would be perfect...
Staz: Or Cheryl Cole!
Scott: Well if we're talking girls, Megan Fox would be fun.
PP: Who came up with the name Vice?
Scott: I did.
PP: What's the meaning behind it?
Scott: How much time have you got! Basically, we wanted a strong name. Obviously Vice is all about addiction, and we want to be people's addiction.
PP: Were there any other names in the frame?
Staz: We were going to be called The Light for about a week!
