In the cosy surroundings of Trafalgar Studio’s second theatre, three actors give us a whirlwind drive through the breakneck twists and turns of a gay sex scandal. Most of the events unfold around one television screen, as the effects of shoving three fingers up a scally orphan (sixteen, totally legal) threaten to ruin the career of a prominent news presenter.

The script is littered with crowd pleasing gags for the gays and their straight counterparts, and although it is ostensibly a “gay” play, it says more about the manipulation of the media and it’s ability to misrepresent and ruin lives.

There is not one weak link in the cast, and the on-screen appearance of Stephen Fry is a brilliant piece of casting. The star of the show is undoubtedly Steven Webb, who plays the mislead Liverpudlian chav, eeking out every nervous twitch for laughs without ever betraying the sincerity of his confused character.

The climax at the end is followed by a stroke of tacky genius as Lady Gaga’s Paparazzi is played. Definitely worth a squizz if you’re free this week.
