
Norway’s finest are back with the promise of a return to the synth sound of their early years; and they keep their word for the best part. Several of the songs here easily rank among the best they have recorded in years.
The Bandstand offers a riff that immediately suggests itself as a relative of The Sun Always Shines on TV – and then almost outdoes itself by cranking it up for the final 50 glorious seconds. Elsewhere, Where It Is is a near-perfect example of the bands knack of welding melancholic lyrics to an upbeat backing track.
Ok, so they might not be at the La Roux end of the 80s revival spectrum; but with the stark, brooding electro-pop of Start The Simulator they close the album in a way that reminds us they were there the first time round.
